Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Harry Carry's Lombard Wedding - Rebecca & Talen
This summer wedding at Harry Carry’s in Lombard, IL is a beautiful example of what we’re able to capture when we get ALL that sunshine all day long. Rebecca & Talen decided on a first look and capturing all of their portraits and bridal party before the ceremony so they could truly enjoy every minute of their cocktail hour outdoors during golden hour surrounded by all of their loved ones.
Oh my goodness, we have so much love for these two and this day. Rebecca and Talen are truly laid back, so much fun, and truly such a pleasure to have spent the day with. Also, we always love getting to spend the day with Kristen from Everlasting Impressions. She’s the perfect balance of keeping everyone on their toes and keeping us laughing along the way.

Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Mercantile Hall Wedding - Grace & Ramiro
This was our very first time capturing a wedding day at the Mercantile Hall and it very quickly became a new favorite of ours! Its location in downtown Burlington screams Midwestern charm and it’s truly one of the easiest locations to capture on a rainy day like this one because of it’s quick access to covering as we dodged in between the rain all day.
Just sitting here grinning from ear to ear as I relive Grace & Ramiro’s wedding day at Mercantile Hall in Burlington, WI. I remember so clearly when we FaceTimed with them for the first time. Their sweetness and giddiness was palpable. And that’s exactly how I would describe these two after their wedding day. Back to Grace & Ramiro: These two cuties had a little outing planned during their reception that we adored. A quick walk over to the local ice cream shop and stroll downtown. If you’re planning on your own wedding at the Mercantile Hall, this would be the sweetest escape from the crowd for just the two of you (and your camera crew of course) before you join back up with your guests. We truly could relive this day over and over and over. The rain never once held these two back from all the joy and love. We couldn’t have been more honored to have been a part of their dream team and work alongside their incredible vendors. We so appreciate you, Grace & Ramiro! Your joy and kindness is contagious!

Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Grand Geneva Resort Wedding - Bailey & Fred
As I get to relive this beautiful and warm late spring day, I’m reminded of all of the lush florals and whimsical vintage touches that made their mark in every corner of the room. The floral chandelier, exquisitely designed by Frontier Flowers of of Fontana, is an absolute show stopper. The way the mountain top chalet can be transformed in so many different ways never ceases to amaze us and is why it has become one of our all time favorite Lake Geneva spaces to capture.
We had been looking forward to this postposed Covid wedding for such a long time. Fred and Bailey’s original wedding date was scheduled for 2020, but they decided to push their date out to when all of their family and friends could safely arrive and be a part of this stunning celebration. Bailey’s matching oversized bouquet made our jaws drop when it arrived as we were capturing details.
I think one of the most special parts of Fred & Bailey’s day was the perfect timing of the Grand Geneva’s carnival that happened to be set right down the road for a quick photo set before heading back to their reception. …Fred and Bailey met years before working together at Six Flags. This day truly fills us up inside. Fred and Bailey are kind, fun, full of sweetness toward one another, and just an absolute pleasure to have gotten to communicate with for two years prior to this big day. Honestly, it was bitter sweet when we packed up for the night. Not to mention the truly wonderful team of vendors that we got to work alongside. (We’re looking at you, Something Blue). Thank you so much, Fred and Bailey, for the honor of getting to be a part of all the beauty.

Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Naperville Wedding at Meson Sabika - Courtney & Joe
Courtney and Joe are truly the real deal. It was such an honor to capture their small ceremony in 2020 and it was incredible getting to capture their big reception surrounded by all their friends and family. It was truly a gift to witness this long awaited party and a gift to capture their wedding story in its entirety.
Where to start with Courtney and Joe? It’s been such a long, beautiful, joyfilled, yet bitter-sweet journey with these two. Between the pandemic, medical school residency, their engagement session, their small wedding ceremony and celebration with their closest family members in the fall of 2020, their grief over the loss of Joe’s beautiful mother shortly after, and planning their large wedding celebration ...these two have been through so much over the past two and a half years. Courtney said something that really stuck with us while we were chatting in between their portraits. She couldn’t imagine doing life over these past two years not being married to Joe. Isn’t that the truth?! We know we are with our soulmate when we can face life’s hardships just a little easier and are made stronger as one when the storm passes. That’s so beautiful. 5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Mini Session
5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Mini Session
I’m so excited that we’ve finally made it to Mini Session time! Here are a few ideas on how to get the most out of these quick sessions:
1. Wear the colors you want to see on your walls. Remember that you don’t all need to be wearing the exact same color. It’s much more aesthetically pleasing to wear complimentary tones and colors.
Also, don’t be afraid to mix it up with prints and solids. Remember to balance the dark colors and light colors. Notice how the photo below is so beautifully balanced for the mom and dad’s outfits: Mom is wearing dark tones on top and bottom. Dad is wearing dark tones on bottom and light tones on top. If they were both wearing dark tones on bottom half and light tones on top half, this wouldn’t look nearly as balanced. They also did the same for their boys.
Here’s a few more examples of the light/dark tone balance:
2. Remember that this time is going to fly by! So, stay cheerful and positive. Kids pick up on stress and anxiety, so if you’re feeling anxious, they will most likely feel anxious too.
This is especially applied for those tiny littles around 18 months to 3 years.
3. Remember that this should be fun! If smiles don’t come right away from the littles, that is 100% socially acceptable, so don’t sweat it! Keep on smiling, tickling, and go for those inside jokes or silly phrases you know are sure to crack them up. I can stay as positive and fun as possible, but the real leaders who set the tone for the kiddos will always be their parents ❤️
4. Remember to give yourself plenty of time to get ready and drive. If you feel anxious or stressed on your way there, then it’s going to be really hard to get into a playful mood as soon as you arrive. (This applies especially for your significant other.)
5. Last, but not least, remember to bring someone along if you’re planning on bringing your fur baby. That way, you can more diversity out of your time. (It’s just too hot to take them back to the car 🥵)

Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Mayslake Peabody Estate Winter Engagement Session - Taylor & Pete
When Taylor and Pete contacted me, I was truly so excited to get to capture a winter session covered in white! Taylor, Pete, and their son met up with me at The Mayslake Peabody Estate and this setting truly didn’t disappoint.
I absolutely LOVE last minute snow engagement sessions! It’s so hard to nail down a session date in the winter when you’re waiting for that big snowstorm, so when Taylor and Pete contacted me, I was truly so excited to get to capture a winter session covered in white! Taylor, Pete, and their son met up with me at The Mayslake Peabody Estate and this setting truly didn’t disappoint. It’s always so fun to capture a venue or location that your familiar with but in a season that you don’t typically shoot there. These two truly earned their engagement photos, as it was one of the coldest days we’d had in a long time, but it paid off in the end. There’s just something so romantic and timeless about winter sessions! Thank you, Taylor & Pete, for the honor of getting to capture this beautiful season in your lives!

It’s such a rare treat for us to get to capture winter weddings and Angela & Brandon’s winter wedding at Danada House was truly one of the most magical days that we’ve ever gotten to be a part of. We were hoping with all our hearts that there would be snow, yet not too much snow that could cause issues for their guests traveling. The night before their wedding day, we received the most beautiful snowfall that couldn’t have been more perfect. Danada House is truly MAGICAL surrounded by white! When we arrived early in the morning, we were speechless as we pulled up. We’re crazy about getting to spend a day at Danada House when we’re typically capturing weddings in the summer and fall, but getting to capture it in the winter was on a whole other level! Let’s move on to how magical Angela & Brandon were. We instantly connected to these two souls even before their wedding day. Their wedding ceremony was one of the most intentional, meaningful, and beautiful ceremonies we’ve ever witnessed. Both of them took turns to speak to their families and friends about what this day meant to them before they exchanged their vows. They were radiant. Their joy filled the room and was joined by one of the loveliest church communities we’ve ever been given the privilege to meet. These two, with the support and love of their families and church family/friends are going to do beautiful things. Just getting to spend this day capturing them left us all filled up and light inside. It was such an honor. I’m truly sad the day is over, but forever thankful for the friends we get to keep in Angela & Brandon.

It’s been such a privilege to capture this beautiful family over these past years! From Clarence & Jordan’s engagement session, to their wedding day, to maternity photos, to getting to capture their daughter; it’s been such an honor! But, there is nothing more surreal than getting to capture our couple’s very first infant session. I’m so thankful for getting to capture these milestones and watching these two wonderful souls become the most wonderful and loving parents.

Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Cuneo Mansion and Gardens Wedding - Kelly & Matt
Kelly & Matt’s wedding day at Cuneo Mansion and Gardens was out of a dream. We’re talking straight out of “Father of the Bride”, grab a tissue, magical. From Kelly’s first look with her father down the staircase, to Matt seeing Kelly for the very first time as she walked down the aisle at her family’s church, to portraits at one of the most romantic settings in all of the Chicago Suburbs.

Capturing our brides getting ready in their childhood homes is such an honor. There is something so magical about being in the place that has made them into who they are today. I know that a house it just a house. It’s the everyday events, both mundane and monumental that holds something so sacred. It’s such an honor to be welcomed by our couples’ parents into their homes. We know we are complete strangers walking in and it has to feel vulnerable on so many levels as we enter with our cameras. Please know that your hospitality and warmth is not lost on us.
As a mother of little girls, these moments of capturing this time with mom while getting into the dress melt me every single time. Especially when you know there is so much goodness and love and resect there.
This series right here with Kelly and her darling flower girl are pure magic. Kelly was so sweet to take the time and make her feel special with her own twirling moments too.
Is this NOT the “Father of the Bride” staircase moment that every little girl DREAMS of?!?! Insert all the cry emojis right here please.
Cuneo Mansion and Gardens might be one of the most magical and etherial venues in all of the Chicago Suburbs. …Fun Fact: Did you know that many scenes from “My Best Friends Wedding” were shot here?!
These two LOVE to dance and they were so good at it! Love that they were up for it even though it was 100 degrees in an unconditioned portion of the mansion. They might be some of our most favorite moments from their day.
The most perfect way to cap off this magical day! …truth be told, these were actually captured outside on the balcony before the dance floor opened to Kelly & Matt’s guests. We always recommend scheduling sparkler photos before everyone gets busy on the dance floor. Your DJ or band will also greatly appreciate it.
Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Lincoln Park and North Avenue Beach Engagement Session - Anna & Matt
There’s no place more beautiful than the Midwest in summer. It’s a treat to relive Anna & Matt’s engagement session at Lincoln Park and North Avenue Beach and remind ourselves of everything we have to look forward to in the coming year. We cannot even begin to explain how excited we are to capture Anna & Matt’s wedding this year in Lake Geneva!
I truly wish I could have shared Anna & Matt’s Lincoln Park / North Avenue Beach engagement session sooner, but this was during the thick of the busiest time of our season. And it’s no wonder why when I go back and look through these images. There’s no place more beautiful than the Midwest in summer. It’s a treat to relive this evening and remind ourselves of everything we have to look forward to in the coming year. We cannot even begin to explain how excited we are to capture Anna & Matt’s wedding this year in Lake Geneva!
This session is a perfect example to show how one location can be used 1,000 different ways. That’s why Lincoln Park / North Avenue Beach will always be our number one suggestion for the downtown area. First, those glowing greens and yellows at Lincoln Park! This has to be my all time favorite location to capture engagements and families because of how diverse it is in every season. But, the biggest benefit of capturing photos here is that you don’t have to walk far to get different looks between the nature, skyline, and architecture. That’s a huge plus when you’re racing against the sun during golden hour.
…A quick outfit change for a more formal vibe. I love that they kept their outfits within the same color scheme as the first two! And just wait till you see their blue tones paired with Lake Michigan!
North Avenue Beach is one of the most luminous locations in Chicago at golden hour. It’s a quick walk from Lincoln Park and such an amazing way to cap off a Chicago session!
I told you these blue tones would not disappoint!

Where to begin? This moment of getting to capture infant photos of our nephew Charlie with his wonderful parents was 7 years in the making. Almost exactly one year ago before these pictures were taken, my sister Kate spoke boldy at the dinner table around New Years. She told us that THIS would be the year that she would have her baby and there wouldb’t be anything that could get in the way of that. They were visiting us in the Chicago Suburbs from their home in SoCal. They already had their paperwork to get started in their process of IVF and social work meetings to look into the process for adoption. It had a been a long 7 years of waiting, grieving the miscarriage of their first baby 7 years prior, and asking God when. …Fast forward one month after Kate said those words at the dinner table when we got a FaceTime with the greatest news ever. We were all elated. Kate & Stu were finally granted their hearts desires. But, even after the news of pregnancy, there was still a battle to fight. If you’ve never experienced Hyperemesis, there really are no words to describe what it feels like. Our momma had it intensely with both of us. She had to have in-home care and was told multiple times that the outcome might not be what she was hoping. It can be genetic and it happened to be passed down to both of us. Mine was never even a fraction of what my mom and sister walked through though. So, just knowing the tiny bits / moments of the extreme nausea (imagine just taking a sip of water and having it all come up every single time, or the slightest movement as you lie in bed sending you into a fit of sickness.) The inability to eat or drink or move or stay awake is unlike anything that can be described. And out of those 9 months and 7 years of praying, battling, and asking, came the most perfect little boy I’ve ever gotten to hold this side of heaven. Charlie is nothing short of the delightul miracle rainbow baby they’ve been aching for. …we’ve all been aching for. We love you so much sweet Charlie Boy. You are perfection in every sense. And Kate & Stu are every bit and more of the parents they’ve ached to be.
Lake Geneva Wedding Photographers | Wedding at Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club - Toni & Danny

Now that we are in the smack dab middle of January here in the Chicago Suburbs, our appreciate for days like this is sky rocketing. It’s that time of the year where hibernation and quiet allow us to actually get caught up on sharing here and it couldn’t come in more perfect timing as I’m bundled up with my warmest blanket, drinking extra hot coffee, and looking out on the dusting of snow we just received. I can literally feel the glow of the warm sunshine on my skin as we captured Toni & Danny’s beautiful portraits right behind the Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club. The setting sun bathed them in the most glorious light and filled the wildflowers and tall weeds with a glow you can only find in the Midwest during this glorious time of year. The middle of August is one of our most favorite times of the year to shoot. To relive August 14th, 2021 is a welcomed reminder today.
Toni & Danny’s wedding day was the perfect combination of high end, yet no fuss details. Everything about Danny’s tux and Toni’s gorgeous gown was tailored, classic, and comfortable. (When you feel comfortable, it shows in your photos and we’re big fans of that.) Toni’s gown was the most flowing and luxe fabric I (Meg) had ever had the honor of getting to handle. When you have a gown like that, you can be certain that spinning and twirling is going to be a part of the game plan! Truly, this day was a dream and such a delight to be a part of. Meet me at the beach with your dog and it’s a perfect recipe for a dreamy engagement session! It was so much fun to meet Samantha & Nick in person this summer to capture their lakeside engagement photos on Lake Michigan. The weather was perfection and the green and yellow tones that late summer brings us in the Midwest makes it one of my favorite times of the year to shoot. Samantha and Nick were so fun and easy going and we are so looking forward to getting to capture their wedding day this upcoming year! It is such an honor to have them as a part of our 2021/2022 wedding family!
As the weather begins to change and the green slowly begins to disappear, we’re getting caught up slowly but surely on sharing all the warm and sunny sessions this 2021 summer brought us. And with all the new locations we were introduced too, I’m already excited about more warm and sunny lakeside sessions next summer. We have been looking forward to this day for years! Literally! It’s been such a treat to get to work with Kristen and Chase ever since we met them during our first meeting. We know there has been great disappointment for our couples and their postponements, but getting to see everyone reunited this year and throwing the wedding day they’ve been dreaming of has been such a blast! Rainy days at the Danada House are our favorite! In our humble opinions, there isn’t a better place in all of the Chicago Suburbs to capture a rainy wedding day. It might have been overcast all day long, but all was warm and sunny the moment we met up with Krissy. She was truly a dream bride in every sense with a Momma and bridesmaid tribe to match. The moment we entered her getting ready space, we were greeted with hugs and we knew it was going to be a dream of a day. Krissy and Mike are truly two of the most down to earth, joyful, genuine, and easy going lovebirds we’ve ever had the privilege of capturing.
Krissy and Mike’s color scheme was filled with blushes, blues, pinks, corals, greens, white, and grey. (All of our favorite summer colors) Their colors brightened up their day so beautifully that we forgot all about the weather outside.
These two were troopers and even stepped outside from under our covering with their umbrellas for a few photos. After following the weather all morning, they made the call to bring their outdoor ceremony indoors and it was still romantic, luminous, and joy-filled. Sometimes everything works out for a better reason. It was such a joy to relive this day and an honor to have been a part of such a wonderful team. There is absolutely no honor bigger than get to capture our couples over the years as their families grow. It seems just like yesterday that I had the honor of capturing Allison and Frank’s engagement session in downtown Chicago. And now, we get to share their second infant session on the blog today! It has been such a treat to capture these two with their brand new babies in their gorgeous home. (Talk about home decor inspiration. Their color scheme throughout their entire house is just off the charts to get to shoot in!
Frank and Allison were made to be parents. Their boys are so blessed and their love for each other is tangible. This session is a perfect example of why we love capturing infants and families in a more “lifestyle” setting. Frank and Allison’s home is truly an extension of their family. Every room speaks to who they are. We truly feel that our families’ homes bring completeness to capturing this newborn phase. It’s where all the sleepless nights, cuddles, bath times, happy tears, first smiles, exhausted tears, and joy happen! Your homes and the walls where you bring your babies home are sacred. Thank you Allison & Frank, for the joy of getting to capture your beautiful family again! The honor doesn’t get lost on us.
